Product Review: My Honest Thoughts on Zenutrient's Gugo Strengthening Hair Serum

It is really depressing waking up when you see a lot of hair strands on your pillow. Every day, after shower, while combing my hair, I always catch a handful of hair strands.  You can also add the flakes dropping one after the other on my shoulder. I know it's yucky! My thinning hair combined by dandruff is getting it's toll out me.  This is probably because of my postpartum and everyday stress =(.  The length of my hair is below the shoulder, so I'm planning a haircut thinking it will somehow lessen the damage.  I know a lot of you out there who also suffers from dandruff and hair loss can relate to my problem.

I am now into switching my bath and personal essential from commercialized/imported products to local, and natural, organic ones.  In search of a bunch of organic hair serums out there, I happened to bump on Zenutrient's Gugo Strengthening Hair Serum.

Bought at Market! Market! for 499php (40ml)

Zenutrients has combined five of nature's most well-known ingredients that fight hair thinning and hair fall - Gugo, Jeju Aloe Vera, Green Tea extract, Tea Tree and Eucalyptus essential oils.

Gugo has always been popular in the Philippines as a proven organic remedy for stubborn dandruff, hair thinning, and even eczema.

Aside from gugo, jeju Aloe Vera is one of the best multi-vitamins for your hair and scalp. With as much as 75 nutrients, 20 minerals, 12 vitamins, 18 amino acids and 200 active enzymes, it’s the natural cure for many skin and health problems. With healthy hair follicles, it is easier for nutrients and minerals to reach the roots to make hair long, thick and strong.

In addition, the green tea extract has catechins and polyphenol that help strengthen roots and activate hair follicles that promote hair growth and re-growth, while the tea tree oil can help get rid of bacteria and fungi. It also helps wash away dead skin cells that help unclog pores for a healthy scalp.

Lastly, eucalyptus oil is nature’s cleanser. With its antifungal properties, it helps ward off infection, restrain residue build up and unclog the pores on the scalp.

How to use it?

First, Gently, massage into the scalp and affected areas in the evening, and then wash off in the morning. Then, apply again to the ends of your hair after washing when hair is still damp, to prevent split ends and breakage.

As for me, I apply a generous amount on my scalp, massage it every night (with feelings "]), and wash it off come morning.

My Thoughts:
  • The serum is very lightweight, I can hardly feel it in my hair.
  • Great in treating frizzy strands.
  • Not harsh in my hair as it is totally organic.
  • I don't mind the smell.  Some say it smells bad.  But, I personally think that the smell of coconut and some herbal plants and essential oils are heavenly.
  • My hair is thin and flat.  The serum gives a little bounce and fullness.
  • I see minimal results when it comes to treating my dandruff. Maybe I should try their tea tree scalp treatment too?
  • Though my hair becomes literally strong (meaning less breakage), there are still a lot of falling hair.
  • It's a little bit pricey for me for a 40ml bottle, but on the second thought, reading all the ingredients again makes me think that the price is just "okay".

Overall, I didn't get the maximum expected outcome of the product probably because I only finished a bottle of it. I think, I can see the best result with continuous use and a lot of patience. This is just for me. All of us have different hair conditions and who knows it might work on you. It's worth a try for those who already have a fuller and healthy hair and wanted to maintain it.

Will I repurchase? Probably next time, but not too soon.

I am still in search of the best and effective hair serum that can tremendously treat flakes and hair fall.

Help me find one! Sharing is caring, right? =)

  8. I was looking for a hairfall shampoo for my mom when I stumbled upon gugo. I'm not a fan of coconut-smelling products so I didn't purchase this. Thanks for your review.
I tried Head & Shoulders shampoo before for my flakes, and it is super effective. It also smells nice (obviously the scent is a big factor for me). It's not organic though, but it's the most effective among the other products that I tried.

  9. I like how Zenutrients manufacture products made of natural ingredients; however, to be honest, I'm not a big fan because they don't seem to deliver. I hope they change the formulation of their products soon!
